In Vila Fresca de Azeitão, known for its excellent wine produced by the José Maria da Fonseca cellars, which produces the “Periquita” wine and the famous Moscatel de Setúbal, you will have the opportunity to follow their production method, doing a wine tasting.

Quinta José Maria da Fonseca, a family business with almost two centuries of history, was founded in 1834 and is the oldest Portuguese company producing table wines and Moscatel de Setúbal. António Soares Franco belongs to the sixth generation of the Soares Franco family, who have owned the company for over 170 years. Brazil was one of the main destinations for these wines from an early age.

In addition to the famous Azeitão pies, a typical egg-based sweet with a slight lemon and cinnamon flavor, we can also indulge ourselves and buy another product representative of the region, the traditional and famous Azeitão cheese, made from sheep's milk and very appreciated for its unique taste.

ARRÁBIDA

In Serra da Arrábida you can enjoy a wonderful view over the Atlantic Ocean and over the beautiful Tróia Peninsula, a sand tongue that stretches along the Sado estuary. It is protected for its diversity of fauna and flora and for its well-known beach of fine white sand with transparent and luminous waters, Praia da Figueirinha, in Portinho da Arrábida.

SETÚBAL

Setúbal was born from the river and the sea, existing since Roman times, we find numerous traces from the Neolithic period and the Phoenician and Greek civilizations. Fishing, port and industrial area, where we can visit the Fort of São Filipe and enjoy a tasty lunch with the typical cuisine of the city, fresh fish, seafood or the traditional fried cuttlefish.

The Castle of São Filipe, often referred to as a fort or fortress, dates from the 17th century and played a tactical role in reinforcing the defense line of the Portuguese coast, harassed by pirates from northern Europe and Africa.

PALMELA

The city of Palmela dates back to the Roman period, having conquered by D. Afonso Henriques from the Moors in 1147. We highlight as major monuments the Palmela Guesthouse and its imposing Castle, built in the 9th century, located 240 meters above sea level, where on clear days you can see Lisbon.

This castle boasts a magnificent view over the plains of the Tagus and Sado estuary, as well as the Arrábida Mountain range. Built by the Moors, it was donated to the Order of Santiago, which permanently settled here in 1210. To the west of the castle lies the old convent, built in 1423. Part of the building now houses one of Portugal's most beautiful inns.
